So last Monday I stopped into work to turn in some movies. (I work at a Hollywood video)
And my buddy Logan says, "So Terrel did you hear the news?" He had a look on his face like someone had died.

I knew imediatly what he was going to say. I said, "OMG no. please tell me they didn't."

He nodded his head. "They demoted Kristy and sent her to the Layton store."
Kristy of course being our manager.

After a moment of shock, sorrow, and then anger, I calmed down and realized what was about to happen. They would send in the fat guy. The fat guy well will call Rousdower as I do not want to get my own ass fired just yet. About a month before hand this fat guy came to our store and tried to get us excited about Power Play.

You know how almost every damn francise on the planet has some sort of deal, membership card, or plan? Hollywood videos is Power Play. Here's how it works.

Lets say you buy our basic plan, 8 dollars, which then you can turn around and use (those before said 8 dollars) to rent DVD's, video games, and Blue Rays from the store at a discounted price with no due dates or late fees. The catch is, its a monthly fee to your credit card. Not to mention once the points run out for the month, then you have to wait until the next month when they roll over and refill, OR you have to upgrade to get more if your real desprate for your movie going exsperiance.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, depending on which plan you have, determines how many you can put on the power play. Here's the prices.

8 dollars- 1 out
15 dollars- 2 out
25 dollars- 3 out
40 dollars- 3 out (Unlimited points) AND you can have games as long as you want as well.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, unlimited time on games ONLY exists for the 40 dollar plan.

In other words, all of these power plays are useless unless you know exactly when and how much you will be renting. It looks like a giant scam. The only words missing are;

"You tell 2 friends, and then they tell 2 friends..."

Anyways, this guy is trying to deny it now, but he basically told us that if they give us a credit card, that we should be like, "Oh, I got you all ready for power play would you like to try it out?" failing to mention of course the prices, the monthly fees, and all the crap I just told you.
He even admitted to just putting a power play on a few peoples credit cards without even telling them. Why would someone be so sneaky and under handed?

Because the sick bastards at corprate have decided that if we don't sell enough of these power plays reguardless of which one, we will have our hours cut, possible suspension, then finally terminated.

um, last I checked my duties include watching the store, providing friendly customer service and keeping the shop clean and stocked. Where does it say this is a job that requires a quota? If I wanted to work a comition job I'll go work for a dealership!
The hell is wrong with people? Our economy is dieing all around us, and these people have the balls to ask average Joe-Shome for $40.00 a month?! WTF?!
And wouldn't you know it? NO ONE IS FUCKING BUYING IT!!!

If video stores wern't doomed to die before, they sure as hell are now. Netflix is going to blow them out of the water. You know how much Netflix is now? My friend has it, and he pays 8 bucks a month.

Look, I realize back in the 90's video stores were cash cows. Everyone went to them, and the Corperations were fat and happy. But that time is over. You need to pull your heads out of your asses and start thinking of cheaper prices for your products. NOT hocking your crap at us like we're in some mid evil Bizzare.

Anyways, I could very well lose my job in the next couple weeks to a month. My parents don't want me to quit, even though if I did now I would have a clean record still and be just fine when I go to my next job.
